Fear Factor
Submitted by Casey on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 21:52While reading this morning the author helped me
understand a simple truth from God's Word that I had somehow missed
along the way: Fear of the Lord should override our fear of man. We
were in a meeting once with someone who we were confronting about
wronging us. My desire to win kept me in torment as my resolves to
listen well, speak gently, and act lovingly (all Godly commands) all
disolved within the first few minutes. My fear of being continually
hurt by this person, my desire to no longer fear his intentions, was
stronger than my fear of God.
Motives
Submitted by Casey on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 21:50Sometimes it is hard to remember to check our motives in certain situations. Even now, as we are srtuggling to learn how to serve and partner at Central, I have learned how essential it is to look into my heart and ask, "Why?" Discerning your motives is a wonderful way for God to hel you spot and heal troubled areas in your heart of hearts. I encourage you to try it today!
Since I harped on The Power of a Praying Woman in my last blog, I would like to commend a section of it today:
Shining Star or Falling Meteor?
Submitted by Casey on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 21:45I recently read in The Power of a Praying Woman that the author had seen "talented people succumb to sexual temptation and forfeit the promising life God had for them." She says "they fell like meteors and burned
themselves out when they could have been a shining star today. Even though they have been redeemed and restored, I have never seen them regain the anointing and glory of God that was once upon them" (pg. 194).
I must say I was quite shocked by the last statement. Do the consequences of God make His power and glory in us
